Abstract : Using scanning electron microscopy, phytoplasma units were detected for the first time in Egyptian mangoes, particularly in the phloem parenchymatous cells of rachises, petioles and midribs of leaves formed on mixed inflorescences with typical symptoms known as phyllody. Phytoplasma units were also detected in phloem tissues of petioles and midribs of leaves showing vegetative malformation.
