Abstract : Infrared (IR), ultraviolet C (UV-C), quaternary ammonium compounds (QACs), chlorine dioxide, KMnO4 and a fruit coating were compared with prochloraz for the control of postharvest diseases of mango cultivars Tommy Atkins, Kent, Keitt and Sensation. UV-C and IR at 3 or 5 minute exposure times gave some control of anthracnose [Glomerella cingulata], but did not control soft brown rot [Nattrassia mangiferae] and stem end rot [Lasiodiplodia-Dothiorella complex]. Warm water followed by Westfalia Biocoat or prochloraz was equally effective for control of anthracnose, stem end rot and soft brown rot. QACs added to warm water bath also controlled anthracnose, stem end rot and soft brown rot, but caused lenticel damage which varied from slight to severe.
