Conservation and use of native tropical fruit species biodiversity in Asia.

Abstract : The IPGRI has initiated a project on 'Conservation and Use of Native Tropical Fruit Tree Species in Asia', which is operational in 10 countries (Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam). This work is mainly funded though grant by the Asian Development Bank. The project focuses on 6 fruit tree species, citrus (Citrus spp.), mango (Mangifera spp.), jackfruit, litchi (Litchi chinensis), rambutan (Nephelium spp.) and mangosteen (Garcinia spp.). The progress update of this project is briefly summarized.
