Abstract : Ethanol extracts from the root, leaf and stem of P. indica were evaluated for their inhibitory activity on the spore germination of 3 C. gloeosporioides [Glomerella cingulata] isolates (causal agent of mango anthracnose). The root extract showed 100% inhibition of spore germination in the 3 isolates. No inhibitory activity was observed for the leaf and stem extracts, but the leaf extract caused abnormalities in the pathogen germ tubes. Results suggest that the root extract of P. indica may be used to control mango anthracnose disease on mango fruits.
