Analysis of intraspecific variation in the species Colletotrichum gloeosporioides.

Abstract : The relationships among 24 isolates of C. gloeosporioides [Glomerella cingulata] were studied using random amplified polymorphic DNA analysis. Among the isolates, 20 originated from diverse fruit tree hosts in Guangdong, China, clustered together with high genetic similarity and formed a large group (group I). This result indicated that all strains obtained from certain geographical region has a similar genetic background. Six strains from mango formed three small groups outside of group I and have low genetic similarity with group I. Taxonomic relationship between strains from mango and C. gloeosporioides needs further study.
