Potential of gamma irradiation of fruits: a review.

Abstract : The advantages of low dose gamma irradiation over vapour heat treatment and fumigation for insect disinfestation are considered, and studies on treating various temperate, subtropical and tropical fruits with gamma rays are briefly reviewed. It is suggested that pawpaws and mangoes are the most promising candidates for irradiation.
