Abstract : An experiment was conducted during 1997-2000 in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India, on 25-year-old Chausa, Dashehari and Langra mango trees to study the effects of paclobutrazol on vegetative growth, flowering, fruiting and other related parameters. The treatments comprised paclobutrazol applied through soil drench method at 2, 4, 6 and 8 g/tree in September. A related experiment was conducted on Dashehari to study the effects of paclobutrazol on water use. The treatments comprised irrigated control, stress control, and paclobutrazol at 2, 4, 6 and 8 g/tree with irrigation and stress. Data were obtained for flowering, fruiting and different physiological parameters. The irregularities of flowering and fruiting were controlled by paclobutrazol with an improvement in fruit quality and increased tolerance to drought.
