Abstract : The results of a field trial conducted from 1985 to 2000 in Karnataka, India revealed that phosphorus application had no significant effect on the vegetative growth parameters (such as tree height, tree girth and tree spread) and fruit yield of 'Totapuri' mango (M. indica). No significant trend was observed with respect to the mean leaf nutrient status of nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus. The phosphorus requirement for 'Totapuri' mango in similar edaphic conditions was negligible as there was no increase in fruit yield or tree growth due to application of phosphorus.
