Abstract : Brazil is one of the major world producers of mangoes, with a production of 968?942 tons in 2000. In 2001, mango exports totalled 94?921 tons, at an average price of US$ 539 per ton vs. 5422 tons, sold at US$ 607 per ton, in 1989. In 2001, the main destinations for exported mangoes were the Netherlands, the USA, Portugal and the UK. Tommy Atkins and Haden mangoes were the most popular varieties. Details are given of the growing season, flavour, weight, yield, prices and packaging of different varieties.
