A note on the effect of growth retardants and L-methionine on flowering of mango (Mangifera indica L).

Abstract : In studies with the cvs Langra (juvenile phase) and Baramasia (bearing phase) Cycocel [chlormequat] at 5000 p.p.m., B9 [daminozide] at 5000 p.p.m. or L-methionine at 300 p.p.m. were applied 7 times at monthly intervals starting in mid-May. Chlormequat significantly increased the production of panicles and the size of panicles and hermaphrodite flowers. The other 2 substances increased only the percentage of hermaphrodite flowers/panicle. Langra responded better to treatment than Baramasia.
