Abstract : The postharvest physiology of refrigerated mangoes cv. Red Espada and the potential of modified atmosphere storage to maintain the quality of the fruits were evaluated. The modified atmosphere was provided for by PVC pipes, polyethylene film, polyethylene film + ethylene absorber sachet and permeable selective film with ethylene absorber in its structure (Conservax). Storage in polyethylene film + ethylene absorber sachet maintained the quality of the fruits. Data on the effects of the treatments on fruit weight loss, peel and flesh colour, firmness, decay incidence, pH, total titratable acidity and their ratios are presented.
