Pest status of eriophyid mites in Punjab.

Abstract : Extensive surveys on the occurrence and pest status of eriophyid mites were carried out on different economic plants at different localities of Punjab, India, during 1981-2002. A total of 20 eriophyid mites were recorded. The species with pest status were Cisaberoptus kenyae on mango, Tetra sissoo on shisham [Dalbergia sissoo], Aceria lycopersici on tomato, Aceria pongamiae on pongam [Pongamia pinnata], Aceria granati on pomegranate, and Aceria cordiae [A. mixacordiae] on Cordia myxa. The species with uncertain pest status were Aceria mangiferae on both vegetative buds and inflorescence of mango, Aceria ficus on fig, Eriophyes cernuus [Aceria cernuus] on Ziziphus twig galls, Aceria mori on mulberry, Aceria rubifolii on raspberry, and Aceria nerii on oleander [Nerium oleander]. The species found rarely were Phyllocoptruta oleivorus [P. oleivora] on citrus, Aceria sheldoni on citrus, Aceria gossypii [Acalitus gossypii] on cotton, Eriophyes vitis [Colomerus vitis] on grapevines, and Aceria cajani on pigeon pea.
