Abstract : Mango fruits, picked when physiologically mature but unripe, were kept at 13 deg C for 2 days followed by warm water treatment at 50 deg or irradiation with 75 or 300 krad (for control of snout beetles, Sternochetus mangiferae), and after further cold treatment they were held at room temperature for up to 14 days. Irradiation at 75 krad caused contraction of the cell contents after 7 days, and the 300 krad dose caused plasmolysis. Warm water treated fruits showed no anatomical damage after 2 weeks.
