Abstract : Following the appearance of inflorescence malformations on mango trees in some orchards in Israel, a survey was carried out of the presence of eriophyid mites on mango, and their possible effect on inflorescence malformation was studied. Two eriophyid species were recorded for the first time from the country. One, Aceria mangiferae Sayed (Eriophyes mangiferae), has no direct effect on inflorescence malformation, but its interaction with another biotic factor (a fungus) is not excluded. The other eriophyid found was Cisaberoptus kenyae Keifer; mango leaves infested by this species had silver blotches.ADDITIONAL ABSTRACT:The presence of Eriophyes mangiferae on 36 varieties of mango was estimated at several localities. Varieties only slightly infested throughout the year at Bet Dagan were Carrie, Faizanson, Irvin, Maya, Mistakawi, Palmer and Rogni. At Rehovot, Early Gold, Gedong and Mulgoba were free of mites.
