Abstract : Using the policy analysis matrix approach, this paper analyses the competitiveness, efficiency and profitability of mango production for export in northeastern Brazil, as well as the influence of government policies on the mango production chain. The results indicate that production technology with floral induction presents larger competitiveness and comparative advantages, even under the negative effects of public policies, especially when the product is exported through Salvador and Suape. Therefore, mango production for export in northeastern Brazil has a positive future and a potential for expansion.
