Abstract : A study was carried out in a commercial orchard of the main mango production and exportation area in Northeast Brazil (Petrolina, Pernambuco State), and 'Haden' mango fruit growth showed a sigmoidal type curve. A nondestructive method for fruit growth measurements was searched to study the relationship among growth parameters, such as fruit dry mass, fresh mass, volume, and diameters. Results showed that fruit mass can be estimated from fruit volume calculated by the product of fruit diameters. Regression studies showed determination coefficients (r2) above 0.91 for all periods of evaluation along fruit development, from anthesis to harvest. In addition, it was observed that fruit fresh mass is affected by water deficit imposed during fruit maturation, a common local practice aiming to impose fruit maturation in order to increase fruit sugar content.
