Abstract : Kerria lacca (Kerr) is known to attack a wide range of fruit trees in India, including ber (Ziziphus spp.), Citrus spp., custard apple (Annona squamosa), mango, pomegranate and tamarind. In October 1975, K. lacca was observed attacking grapevines in Rajasthan, covering not only the stems with its resinous secretion but also the twigs and leaves with honeydew, on which the sooty mould fungus developed and interfered with the photosynthesis and growth of the vines.
