Abstract : Mango cv. Haden fruits were harvested in the mature green stage and given the following treatments: control, immersion in water at ambient temperature for 3 minutes; immersion in clean wax coat (emulsion containing 18.5-20.5% of a mixture of carnauba wax and acrylic resins) for one minute; immersion in benzalconic chloride solution; immersion in benzalconic chloride solution + clean wax coat; immersion in benomyl solution; immersion in benomyl solution + clean wax coat. The use of wax reduced the synthesis of carotenoid pigments in the pulp of Haden mango. It also reduced chlorophyll breakdown of the skin, mainly chlorophyll a, resulting in a lesser development of the yellow background coloration. On the other hand, benomyl and benzalconic chloride did not affect the synthesis or the breakdown of pigments of Haden mango.
