Abstract : Mango cv. Tommy Atkins was treated with Ethrel (2-chlorethylphosphonic acid) concentrations of 50, 100, 200 and 400 µL/litre at different post-flowering times. Fruit samplings were then done at different times (100, 107, 125 and 141 days after flowering) to verify the possible influence of ethylene on the refractometric index and contents of reducing sugars, soluble carbohydrates and vitamin C [ascorbic acid]. Statistical analysis indicated that the application of the regulator at the post flowering stages had no influence on the studied characteristics of mango fruit maturation.
