Abstract : Gummosis disease of mango trees was investigated and the causal fungus was identified as Botryodiplodia theobromae (Physalopora rhodina). Association of the fungus with the disease was confirmed through inoculation tests. Twenty-two mango germplasms were evaluated for their relative susceptibility to gummosis under natural condition in Bangladesh. Among them, Carabao exhibited the highest disease incidence, followed by Gopalbhog and Rad. Regarding severity, Gopalbhog was highly susceptible with 55.5 infection courts in each plant. All exotic cultivars and the local Fazli and Langra were susceptible to gummosis. BARI mango-1, BARI mango-2 and Kajlasinduri were moderately resistant, while Khirshapat, Aswina, Mollika, Bira, Golla, Ranipasand, Kishanbhog, Baromashi, Latabombai, Baunilata and Nilambori were resistant to gummosis.
