Abstract : Bactrocera dorsalis was the dominant fruit fly among the 4 species (including B. zonata, B. correctus [B. correcta] and B. cucurbitae) captured in methyl eugenol traps established in mango orchards in Kumbapur and Hulkoti, Karnataka, India, during 2002. The peak catches of this fruit fly were recorded during the 21st, 23rd and 46th standard weeks. Maximum infestation reached 30% (0.75 larvae per fruit). B. zonata and B. correcta populations had significant correlation with temperature, while B. dorsalis and B. cucurbitae populations had non-significant correlation with weather parameters (including relative humidity and rainfall).
