Abstract : The origin and geographical distribution of mango are outlined. The phenology of this crop and the effects of climate and soil on flowering and production are described. Notes are given on plant characteristics, including maturity, varieties, age of shoots and plant growth regulators. The use of cultural practices such as pruning, application of paclobutrazol, water stress and application of nitrates to manage flowering and productivity is discussed. Finally, models of flowering induction are given.
