Abstract : In June 2001, large tenebrionid beetles were observed eating leaf buds and flowers of citron (Citrus medica), new leaves of mango, large petals and florets of sunflowers, new leaves of avocado and new fruits of pepper (Capsicum annuum). Morphological analysis identified the species as E. aurulentus. This is the first report of the species infesting crops in Puerto Rico. Notes are presented on the morphology, geographical distribution and life cycle of E. aurulentus.
