Abstract : A study was conducted in Orissa, India to investigate the vesicular arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (VAM) association with weeds on different plantation crops, nursery plants and fallow lands. The colonization was maximum on families Asteraceae, Euphorbiaceae and Rubiaceae. Weeds on horticultural nurseries were poorly colonized. Weeds on roses showed low mycorrhizal association, while those on marigold and chrysanthemum showed high mycorrhizal association. Weeds on jamun [Syzygium cumini] showed poor mycorrhization, while those on mango showed high mycorrhization. The most abundant weed hosts were: Ageratum conyzoides, Amaranthus spinosus, Cleome rutidosperma, Euphorbia hirta, Dactyloctenium aegyptium, Digitaria ciliaris, Heliotropium indicum and Scoparia dulcis.
