Abstract : The incidence of A. cistellata in mango growing areas in Hamirpur, Bilaspur and Una districts of Himachal Pradesh, India, was studied during February-March 2004. The susceptibility of commercial mango cultivars to A. cistellata was also evaluated in Nihari, Bilaspur. A. cistellata infestation was recorded in 12 of the 16 areas surveyed in the 3 districts. The level of infestation was greater in Hamirpur and Bilaspur than in Una. Very high infestation rates were registered for Nihari (58.64%) and Nihal (46.8%) in Bilaspur, and for Jalari (43.91%) in Hamirpur. The infestation level in Una ranged from 2.0 to 7.0%. Among the various cultivars, Dashehari was highly susceptible, with 66.11% of shoots infested, followed by Langra (51.17% infestation). Amarpali was not infested by A. cistellata.
