Abstract : Isolation of high molecular weight and high quality DNA from tree crops is notoriously difficult due to the presence of phenolics. A simple and efficient method for isolation of DNA from seven cultivars of healthy and malformed floral tissues of mango (Mangifera indica) is reported. Results indicate that the amount of DNA in malformed tissues is higher than in its corresponding healthy tissues. The cause of higher DNA content in malformed tissues is yet to be discovered.
