Abstract : Eight mango cultivars (Alphonso, Bombay Green Malda (BG Malda), Dusehri, Langra, Krishan Bhog, Summer Bahist Rampur (SB Rampur), Summer Bahist Chausa (SB Chausa) and Fazri) were evaluated for their performance under sub-montaneous conditions of Punjab, India. Among them, SB Rampur was the most vigorous, recording the highest stem girth, tree height, tree volume and fruit number per tree, while Krishan Bhog was the least vigorous, recording the lowest values for these parameters. Fazri recorded the highest floral malformation, fruit weight, fruit yield and pulp weight, and SB Chausa recorded the highest total soluble solids. Alphonso had the lowest peel weight and stone weight, the highest pulp percentage. Overall, Dusehri, Langra and Alphonso were the most promising cultivars under the sub-montaneous conditions of Punjab, recording very good to superb fruit taste, pleasant to captivating flavour and early harvest date (end of June to the 3rd week of July).
