Approximation of fruit volume by using fruit dimensions in mango.

Abstract : The volume of 60 fruits of mango cultivars Dashehari, Langra and Bombay Green was determined based on their breadth, length and weight. Variation in the coefficient of determination was highest in Langra and lowest in Dashehari. The coefficient of determination was lowest in all cultivars when fruit length and breadth were used in the regression equation, and highest when fruit length, breadth and weight were used in the equation. The values of the predicted fruit volume using the data on the length, breadth and weight of the fruits were close to the observed values.
