Abstract : The effect of preharvest fungicidal treatments on the storage life of mango cv. Himsagar fruit was investigated. The preharvest application of fungicides Blitox [copper oxychloride] (0.2%), Dithane M-45 [mancozeb] (0.2%), Kavach [chlorothalonil] (0.2%), Bavistin [carbendazim] (0.1%) and Topsin M [thiophanate-methyl] 70 WP (0.1%) was performed separately during February, February+March, February+March+April and February+March+April+May. The control trees were sprayed with water. Bavistin followed by Topsin M proved more effective than Blitox, Dithane M-45 and Kavach in reducing the intensity of anthracnose (Colletotrichum gloeosporioides [Glomerella cingulata]) and stem-end-rot (Botryodiplodia theobromae) diseases during storage. The efficacy of the fungicides in reducing the diseases increased with increase in the number of sprayings, and thus, spraying in February+March+April+May was the most effective.
