Abstract : The following characteristics were studied at both localities: rind, pulp and seed percentage, brix, acidity, average fruit weight, and the resistance of fruits to anthracnose [Glomerella cingulata]. Flowering and harvesting dates were studied in Vicosa only. The highest percentage of pulp and the lowest percentage of rind and seed were observed in the cv. Keitt; brix was highest in Felipe; Kent showed the highest titratable acidity and the highest average fruit weight; fruit least affected by G. cingulata was that of Felipe, Uba and Ubari. No correlation between flowering and harvesting dates was observed. The first to ripen were the cvs Haden, Amarelinha, Uba, Ubari, Soares Gouveia and Tau.
