Abstract : Single and diverse mango and sapota (known by red mammee) and exotic (anón and marañón) fruit orchards strips were planted in a site subjected to extensive natural drought from July 2003 to February 2004 and from the establishment of the plantation. Trial layout of complete blocks was used on prevalent brown or cambisol soil. The strips were separated at 25, 50, 75 and 100 m to allow planting of short cycle species (grain, beans, minor crops). Preliminary report on the diversity of weeds in the ecosystem studied is presented.
