Abstract : An experiment was conducted in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India, during 1996, 1997 and 1998 to study the effect of preharvest fungicide sprays (0.1% mancozeb, 0.2% captan, 0.1% carbendazim, 0.1% thiophanate-methyl and 0.05% aureofungin) on postharvest decay (caused by Colletotrichum gloeosporioides [Glomerella cingulata] and Diplodia natalensis [Botryodiplodia theobromae]) of Baneshan mango. The mean decay reduction index (DRI) was more in fruits sprayed with carbendazim (78.7) at 10 days of storage at ambient temperature. In general, the mean decay reduction was more at 10 days compared to 15 days of storage. Even after 15 days of storage, the mean DRI was more in fruits sprayed with carbendazim (58.9) and with thiophanate-methyl (53.0).
