Abstract : This study was conducted to develop a decontamination protocol for lateral buds for mango micropropagation. Explants were treated with 70% ethanol followed by 1% hypochlorite and 500 mg benomyl/litre for superficial decontamination. The treatments were effective for fungus decontamination but they did not eliminate contamination by endogenous bacteria and fungi. Copper sulfate at 25 and 50 mg/litre controlled endogenous fungi but it did not control bacterial contamination.
