Abstract : The production and export of 'Tommy Atkins' mango has increased in São Francisco River valley in Northeast Brazil. In this study, we measured the physical parameters of commercial fruits in 2 seasons, i.e. from March to July and from July to November 2002, in Petrolina, Pernambuco, Brazil. Fifteen fruits were harvested at 50, 64, 78, 85, 92, 99, 106, 113 and 120 days after fruit set. The data were submitted to principal component analysis and linear regression. The weight, volume, specific gravity, length, breadth, thickness and product of the diameters of fruits from the first harvest reached maximum values at 113 and 120 days, while those of fruits in the second harvest, with the exception of specific gravity, reached maximum values at 99 and 120 days. The variables were highly correlated, particularly the weight and the product of the diameters (0.97 and 0.99 for the first and second harvest, respectively).
