Abstract : This paper highlights the potential of using immobile mineral contents as a tool to predict and manage the storage potential of subtropical fruits. Two immobile elements, i.e. iron and manganese, are dealt with, and brief reference is also made to magnesium. The disorders referred to are black cold damage in avocados and lenticel damage in mangoes. Brief reference is also made to chilling injury in citrus and distal end browning in macadamias.
