Abstract : A study was conducted to determine the adoption of improved mango cultivation practices by growers and the relationship among the socioeconomic characteristics of the growers. The data were gathered from 120 mango growers of Dharwad and Belgaum districts, Karnataka, India. Results showed that majority (68.33%) of the growers have medium adoption level. One hundred percent of the growers planted Alphanso variety and 34.16% grown Bangalora. It was also observed that 58.33% of the mango growers followed the recommended spacing 10 m × 10 m; 61.66% growers applied fertilizers; 86.66% growers sprayed carboryl, monocrotophos, sulfur, endosulfan + sulfur to control mango hopper; 58.33% growers applied sulfur and dithane M-45 to control powdery mildew; and 65.00% growers done regular pruning operation. More than 1/3 of the growers who had grown Alphanso variety got an average yield of less than to 200 kg/tree, which was accounted to non-adoption of the recommended cultivation practices.
