Abstract : The survey was carried out to know the cause of recently reported mango tree mortality in various orchards of Sindh, Pakistan. Many insect pests and diseases are reported earlier that inflict losses to mango plant and fruits, but during a recent survey, a new insect pest, the Asian ambrosia beetle [Xylosandrus crassiusculus], was recorded on mango trees in Sindh. Dalbergia sissoo, Ficus glomerata [F. racemosa], Delonix regia, Tectona grandis, Eucalyptus camaldulensis, Albizia lebbeck, Mimosa sp. and Bauhinia alba are also recorded as new hosts of Asian ambrosia beetle, which are not hitherto reported in Pakistan so far. However, some of above host plants are also reported from outside Pakistan.
