Abstract : In 2-year trials with mangoes, cv. Mulgoa, the effects were compared of Alar [daminozide] and Cycocel [chlormequat], each at 5000 p.p.m., applied at monthly intervals from April to December. The percentage of flowering shoots in the 'off' year was increased from 24 to 46 and 84%, respectively, and in the 'on' year from 66 to 71 and 83%, respectively. These effects reflected changes in leaf and stem glucose, fructose, sugar, starch, RNA and protein contents, on which data are graphically presented.
