Documentos da Embrapa Semi-Árido  : unpaginated

Abstract : Notes are given on the nutritional requirements of mango trees in Sao Francisco Valley, Brazil. The effects of various nutrients on mango are discussed, including nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, sulfur, boron, copper, iron, maganese, nickel and zinc. The analysis of the nutritional status of mango Tommy Atkins on the basis of postharvest fruit is described. In trees with low productivity, the greatest frequency of deficit or excess was observed for phosphorus. High levels of phosphorus and boron favoured pigmentation of fruit skin, while sodium prejudiced skin coloration. The occurrence of Colletotrichum gloeosporioides was low in stored fruits. It is concluded that management of fertilization of mango involves 3 phases: fertilization the plant, fertilization for formation; and fertilization for production. Recommendations are given for fertilizer dosages.
