Abstract : A field experiment was conducted at Indian Institute of Horticulture Research, Bangalore during 2001-2002 to study the performance of polyembryonic rootstocks under nursery conditions. The study showed significant differences among the varieties. Maximum seedling height (51.9 cm) and leaf area (48.20 cm2) was observed in monoembryonic variety Alphonso. Among polyembryonic varieties, Mylepelian and Bappakai recorded maximum height (35.7 cm) and leaf area (39.02 cm2) respectively. Vellaikolumban recorded more number of leaves (25.5) and Vigour index-I (9640.7 cm) where as Vigour index-II was more in variety Muvandan (1129.3 g). Extent of polyembryony was highest in varieties E.C-95862 (296%) and Starch (295%) respectively. There was significant positive correlation among various growth parameters. Number of leaves correlated positively with plant height (0.68), leaf area was positively correlated with plant height (0.73) and number of leaves (0.72). Vigour index-I correlated positively with all the growth parameters.
