Abstract : Accumulated degree days (GD) from harvest until the beginning of the flushing and flowering phases were estimated in three high density mango cultivars: 'Springfels', 'Haden' and 'Edward', at CENIAP in Maracay, Venezuela. Treatments were: free-growing trees (control, T), free growing trees with application of paclobutrazol (T+PBZ), pruning (P), and pruning with application of paclobutrazol (P+PBZ) after harvest. GD were obtained by two methods, Residual (Squire 1990) and Ometto (1981). Ometto estimations of GD values consider both cardinal temperature and local maximum and minimum temperature values. For both methods GD until the beginning of flushing were lower for P and P+PBZ for 'Springfels' and 'Haden'. 'Springfels' and 'Edward' under T+PBZ accumulated lower GD values than T. GD from harvest until the beginning of flowering was lower for PBZ for all mango cultivars.
