Abstract : Malformed and healthy buds of mango cvs Taimour and Zebda were studied from bud burst to fruit set. Healthy inflorescences produced laterals up to the 3rd order whereas malformed inflorescences produced an extra lateral. At fruit set flowers on healthy panicles dropped, whereas on malformed panicles the flowers remained and began to wilt 4-5 weeks after full bloom. Malformed inflorescences of the 2 cvs produced more flowers than the healthy ones. Fruit set on healthy inflorescences was twice as high as on malformed ones. Fruits on the malformed panicles dropped within 6 weeks from fruit set. On healthy panicles fruit drop in Taimour and Zebeda was 89 and 96%, respectively.
