Abstract : Green mature fruits of mango cultivar Tainog were soaked in a solution of 500 µg thiabendazole/litre for 1-3 minutes and dried. Half the fruits were stored in a closed container with a solution of 0.25 µl 1-MCP/litre for 12 h at 20±1°C; the other half were stored in the same sized closed container for 12 h at the same temperature. 1-MCP treatment greatly inhibited ripening. After 12 days, fruit weight loss was 1.8% in 1-MCP-treated fruits compared with 2.8% in control fruits. POD activity of fruits stored with 1-MCP treatment at the early storage stage was inhibited, but reached the same levels as in control fruits after 12 days.
