Abstract : Five clones of 'Langra' (V-1, V-2, V-3, Y-1 an S-1), two clones of 'Dushehari' (K-1 and K-2) and four elite seedlings (Chowsa seedling, Abdullah Great, Janisahab Karkan and Naudha) were surveyed during 2002-03 in Uttar Pradesh, India. Fruit samples were evaluated for antioxidant content and physico-chemical quality parameters. Results revealed a wide clonal variation in quality parameters in the cultivars. Dushehari clone K-1, collected from Kunda Tehsil of Pratapgarh district, was found promising, with big fruit, high pulp recovery, high vitamin C content, thick peel, abundant juice, pleasant aroma and low acidity. Langra clone V-3, collected from Sarnath, Varanasi, produced heavy fruit with high pulp recovery and small stone. An elite seedling locally known as Naudha, collected from Yakutganj, Farrukhabad, with medium fruit size, reddish and thick peel, pleasant aroma and high pulp content appeared promising for sucking purposes.
