Abstract : The vegetative and reproductive physiology of April flushes in mango cv. Dusehri were studied in a field experiment conducted in Pakistan during 1999-2001. Only 5% of April flushes restarted their growth in May, whereas the rest ceased to grow. These 5% April-based May flushes did not restart their growth in June and ceased to grow. In June, 38.25% of the April flushes re-flushed again and in July, a total of 17.25% flushes from April and April-based May and June flushes were recorded. After July, flushes were no longer observed. Some of the April flushes bloomed, whereas some retained their vegetative state. The vegetative growth of April flushes in the following spring was low (2.75%) and in the subsequent months, the vegetative growth of April-based flushes from the previous year was higher than the those of the April flushes. Some 44.75, 2.50, 35.75 and 17.25% of the April, April-based May, June and July flushes stopped growing in the first year. In the following spring, the percentage of bloomed panicles on April flushes were 31.50% and out of these bloomed panicles, 17.25% bore healthy flowers. Only 0.25% of the May flushes bloomed and all were abnormally formed.
