Abstract : The susceptibility of 5 mango cultivars (Meghlanthan, Amrapali, Himsagar, Langra and Fazli) to mango hopper in the New Alluvial Zone (Kalyani, Nadia) of West Bengal, India, was evaluated from July 2003 to June 2004. Meghlanthan and Himsagar harboured the highest number of hoppers, while moderate population was recorded for Langra and Fazli. The interaction between cultivars and date of observation was significant. The highest hopper population densities on shoots and trunks were observed during the 2nd fortnight of March and first fortnight of May, respectively. The lowest hopper population density was recorded during the 1st fortnight of January.
