Abstract : The results are given of two 2-year trials with mature mango trees in which N as urea was applied to the soil at 0-2.0 kg/tree/year, in 2 split doses (October and January). In one trial in which the leaf N content of unfertilized controls was 1.05%, fruit numbers and yields were highest with N at 1.0 kg/tree/year, resulting in a leaf N content of 1.33%. In the other trial, however, with an initial leaf N content of 1.20%, differential treatment effects were slight.
