Abstract : Fruits of 8 mango cvs picked at the stage of physiological maturity were (a) dipped in tap water with Benlate [benomyl] at 0.5%, (b) immersed for 5 min in water at 53 deg C, (c) as in (b) + (a), or (d) immersed for 5 min in water at 53 deg containing 0.5% Benlate. The fruits were stored for 10-21 days at 20 deg . The most effective treatment for preventing the occurrence of Gloeosporium mangiferae during storage was (d). Data are tabulated on varietal susceptibility to G. mangiferae during storage; on the effects of treatments on fruit weight loss and maturity index; and on the percentage of marketable fruits after 21 days of storage. The cvs least susceptible to the pathogen during storage were Palmer, Springfels and Tommy Atkins.
