Abstract : Eight-year-old, well-grown, uniform-statured trees of mango cv. Baneshan were sprayed with calcium chloride (1 and 2%), calcium nitrate (1 and 2%), benzyladenine (50 and 100 ppm) and putrescine (25 and 50 ppm) immediately after panicle emergence. Application of 1 and 2% calcium nitrate recorded the minimum time for 50% flowering from the date of spraying. The percentage of shoots that flowered was highest with 2% calcium nitrate during the first year and with 1% calcium nitrate during the second year. The highest number of fruits per tree was observed with 2 and 1% calcium nitrate during both years. Similar trend was noticed for fruit yield. It was revealed that exogenous application of chemicals and growth regulators to unpruned stray flowered mango trees is effective in increasing the intensity of flowering and fruit yield.
