Abstract : The population dynamics of white grubs infesting groundnut grown in Tra Vinh province, Vietnam, was studied in 2004 through field visits and interview with farmers. Adults emerged soon after the summer rains (April-May) from their pupation sites (soil). The adults fed and mated on cashew and mango trees, then returned to their oviposition sites (groundnut or any other upland crop). Young grubs were observed from June to November. Adult emergence generally coincided with the sowing of groundnut (last week of May). The adults were identified as Lepidiota signata. Grub damage to groundnut crop sown in May was not severe. However, groundnut crop sown in October was severely damaged.
